Reduce Risks
Changing storm patterns, urban expansion, and aggressive contractor sales tactics have contributed to the uptick in hail-related claims. Canopy Weather empowers insurers to reclaim the narrative by engaging policyholders within 24 hours of a storm using our rapidly updated products. On the underwriting side, proactive users of our data avoid policies with pre-existing roof damage, minimizing future claims and costs.
Products & API FAQ
Canopy Weather offers products via two main ways:
- REST API – allowing seamless integration of real-time and historical storm data into claims management systems, underwriting tools, and CRM platforms. The API enables actionable insights directly within each client’s own workflows.
- Website order of PDF reports through Client Login
We return text-based data as JSON, and map-based data as GeoJSON or KML
- Hail: 15-min
- Wind: 1-hr
- Tornado: Variable, usually 1-hr or less
We believe that AI and computers can only go so far, and use a human-in-the-loop approach to refine algorithmic results, enhancing reliability compared to purely automated processes.
Aerial imagery doesn’t have the resolution required to detect hail damage. Plus, hail damage is often to the substrate, and detecting it may require feeling the shingle to determine if the substrate is broken or fractured.
Aerial imagery can see wind damage – but these planes fly days or weeks after the event. For immediate answers (within hours), our data are the best solution.
